Hereditary Symbols
Hereditary Symbols is a creative development and public activation situated within the Queen Victoria Market precinct. I’m interested in the market as a site of collective memory, and the potential for camera-less photography to communicate ideas around time and place in this context. Through material/refuse collection and site research, I will create a series of cyanotype prints and stencils from re-used vinyl banners referencing the site precinct, architecture, heritage and fresh produce. I’m interested in how live production, presentation and public demonstration of works are guided by generative processes, to inform new understandings of market ecologies and public space.
