Hic Angulus Ridet - This Corner is Smiling
Artist in Residence Hôtel Sainte Valière, France
An acquired vine leaf motif informed a process of tracing, cutting, stencilling, drawing and repetition. I created an endless roll of vine leaves drawn on Wenzhou rice paper, traditionally used for diplomatic notes and official archives. In my final days I was honoured to produce a wall drawing in the front room, furthering play with motif, layers, iteration, and commemoration.
The smile ghosted around the corner, a polite smile, angle wrinkled.
